Oak City Lacrosse Academy is led by Matt Peterson, with a 13 year history of coaching and directing youth lacrosse programs in North Carolina.
The Coaching staff at Oak City Lacrosse Academy are all USA Lacrosse certified coaches. All coaches have gone through the USA Lacrosse background check process and have a completed a Bronze Level certification. Oak City Lacrosse is committed to providing players and families with the best youth lacrosse experience in the Triangle.
Oak City Lacrosse Academy's mission is to focus on individual and team-based lacrosse athletic development by grouping athletes by skill level to provide coaching and instruction consistent with their ability level and game understanding. Players will be given individual technical and team-based tactical training that corresponds to their level of development and understanding of the game. Oak City Lacrosse will compete against other lacrosse groups in the Triangle area.

Matt Peterson was a national USA Lacrosse coach trainer, a USA Lacrosse Eastern North Carolina Chapter board member. He is currently certified as a USA Lacrosse Platinum Level (highest level).certified lacrosse coach.
Coach Peterson played lacrosse at UC Santa Barbara and post-collegiate level lacrosse in Washington DC for Washington Lacrosse Club and is a co-founder of the Arlington (VA) Men's Lacrosse Club. Coach Peterson has served as the director of the international tournament in Amsterdam in 2002, was a member of the Vail Lacrosse Shootout staff for 14 years as a scorekeeper, media director and liner of fields, stringer of nets and trash collector.
Coach Peterson occasionally risks his physical well-being to play lacrosse at the Grandmasters level and in a Sunday pick-up game. Coach Peterson was the head coach of NC State University's Men's lacrosse team from 2003-2006 and for the past 13 years has coached youth lacrosse at the travel and recreation lacrosse levels. He has been a youth lacrosse program director for the past 7 years.
